You may have noticed that I didn't post yesterday. I have decided to change my scheduled posts to Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. This seems to make more sense than Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. And in keeping with a TH theme, I thought many (I can't promise all) the Thursday posts will be three-D projects. 3-D Thursday!
Cards-in-a-box are one of my favorite types of cards to make. I just love playing with the elements and filling the box! And the recipients are usually pretty impressed.
I made this one for new neighbors. It uses a retired Stampin' Up! stamp/die combo, but there are similar sets out there. In fact, the sentiment comes from one made by Stampin' Up!. I just didn't want to fussy cut the houses so I used the retired set with the matching dies.
I usually finish the outside of my box with a ribbon tied around it. Sometimes there is a bow, others times not. I always stick the ribbon to the card with some sort of adhesive, often snail adhesive.
This time I used Tombow glue and you can see that was not the best idea. I thought it would dry clear but on this ribbon, it did not. On the back I placed a stamped and punched circle that said "Handmade by" to cover up the spot.
And on the front I added some buttons. Fortunately for me the buttons mirrored the circles so they didn't look like an afterthought. Moral of the story - when adding embellishments, check your adhesive method BEFORE using it on your card!
I
