Shaped Butterfly Easel Card

I had the fun job of creating this week's board at Tic Tac Toe Challenge. The hard part was deciding what to do since I love all the elements. I guess I could have made a card that incorporated all of them but that may have been a bit too much!

I love making shaped and/or 3D cards. For this card I took a Fold-It from the Stamps of Life and turned it into an easel card. The hardest part was picking the paper. I always take too much time with that although I'm usually pleased with the results so I guess that makes it worth the extra time. At least I hope so. Pink and green are one of my favorite color combinations.

Please join us at the challenge this week. We love seeing your creations!

Sketch Challenge Peeps

Happy Tuesday! We have a sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches this week. For this card I rotated the sketch 90 degrees. I'm not a big Peeps fan - at least to eat - but they make cute cards.

This was easy to create with dies cuts. In fact I already had the pink peep and the scalloped panel cut out from previous cards so this went really fast! The thing with a card like this is making sure everything is centered and straight. So I did have to measure and mark lightly in pencil before stamping and gluing down.

I hope you'll find time to join us this week!

Products Used:

  • Dies: Cottage Cutz Lil Bunny Peeps; Stampin' Up! Scalloped Contours
  • Stamps: Simon Says Stamp My Kind of Peep
  • Cardstock: scraps

Embossing Folders Add Interest

Happy Tuesday! I feel like I'm back to my card making self finally! For the past few months I've had some health issues and my mojo just has not been there. But most of it is behind me and I feel more myself.

My cards today use products from multiple companies. As I started pulling stuff out, I saw this from that manufacturer and that from another. I very often just stick to one or two on a card but not today! And I'm very excited about using my things and not just "collecting" them.

This is for the color challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and also for the challenge at Can You Handle the Pressure.

My second card is for the color challenge at Splitcoaststampers where I am the hostess this week. I chose the colors so I could do a spring floral but I had nothing in particular in mind. Then a die I had ordered showed up and it was a done deal!

I used embossing folders on both cards. This is partly because I really like the Can You Handle the Pressure challenges and also because I'm getting more into embossing these days. (Probably why I like that challenge - it gets me to use what I have.) It's such a nice way to add background interest without a lot of fuss. And although I have made a vow to get out of kit clubs and auto-ship craft products (too much stuff!) I have kept my embossing folder club at Spellbinders. They are nice and big; you can even make slimline cards or A7 cards with them!

I hope you'll find time to join in one of the challenges this week!

Hoppy Bunny Days

Happy Thursday! It's time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge. My card today is actually a very quick and easy card to make. The hardest part for me was picking out the sentiment.

The bunny and the pansy are both from The Stamps of Life. The idea card that came with the stamp set had a very similar card so I copied it but changed the colors and sentiment. This is a "fold-it" card where you would normally just make a shaped card. However to get the easel, I just scored the front part of the fold-it at the halfway point, creased it and glued my top decorated pansy panel to the part beneath the score line. This allows for an easel when you open it.

For the stopper, I used a sentiment on foam dots to give it some depth.

The bunny is colored with Copic markers and I edged the pansy in ink to add depth.

I hope you will find time to join us this week! Update on the challenge - this challenge board has been delayed until March 9. So you have a few extra days to prepare!
