Happiness Abounds

My card for today’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge is a bit of a cheater.  It was very easy to create.  In fact the hardest decision was what flowers to use!  I guess I took the "Patterned Paper" element to the extreme.  I chose to do the right column - scallops, twine, patterned paper.

My card uses the DSP from the Hues of Happiness Suite.  The dies in this suite cut the flowers from the paper making it very simple to create a lovely card without coloring! I cut several flowers in different shades and just played with different combinations until I came up with what I wanted.  I saved the ones not used in my stamp case for another card.  The scalloped panel was created using the Scalloped Contours dies - probably my most used die set!

I used the Iridescent Rhinestones on this card (not the Glossy Dots that come with the suite) to add sparkle but little color.

A Simply Fabulous Sunny Splash

Samantha picked some brand new colors from Stampin' Up! for this week's color challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.  These colors are perfect for summer! So of course I had to use my new Sunny Splash stamp set which is also perfect for summer.

I stamped each swimsuit and then used the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch to punch them out.  I was going to even;y space them across the card but decided that I liked the look of them butted up against each other.  It kind of looks like stamps on a roll.  I stacked thee layers of the matching cardstock (also punched out) underneath each stamp.

The sentiment is from the Simply Fabulous stamp set.  This set has some fun sentiments along with flowers.  I love the style and thought it was perfect for the Sunny Splash stamp set.

Color Challenge Week - Day 5

It's my final post for the 900th Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers!  The challenge continues for you to play through the weekend! Today I am featuring my card for LeAnn's colors of Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry and Garden Green with Anything Goes for dessert.  So I chose an embossing folder for dessert.

I used the Color & Contour stamp and die set for my flowers.  This set is quite versatile.  It has outline stamps that you can color yourself (as I've done here) or you can use the solid stamps to add your color to the flowers as I did in this post.  Here, I used eye shadow brushes direct to the ink pad to paint the flowers in the Razzleberry and Green with Wink of Stella in the center.  Blackberry Bliss substitutes for black as the outline of the flowers and the sentiment.

I used the coordinating dies to cut the flowers and the scalloped rectangle.  For my greenery I used the Meadow Dies.  I just ordered these and I LOVE them!  They are perfect for adding interest behind your image.  I also used the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder.  Embossing folders are a great way to add some interest to a clean and simple card.  There is still white space but with some texture.

I hope you'll join us in the challenge!  We have prizes - one for each individual challenge and also one for someone who participates in all six!

Color Challenge Week - Day 4

We're in the home stretch of the 900th color challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  The challenge goes through Monday but I am posting a card a day featuring one of the hostess colors.  Today is Mary's challenge - Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce, Gold with Christmas for dessert!

I used the soon-to-be-released suite called Lights Aglow.  And WOW does it live up to it's name.  It comes with glitter paper, foiled 6 x 6 DSP, metallic pearls, gold trimmed ribbon....you get the point.  The colors in the Suite are slightly different than here - I had to substitute Shaded Spruce for the green.

For my card I heat embossed the tree in gold and then cut it out with the die.  There are different options for cutting the tree including one where there are stars cut and a garland cut out or embossed.  I chose not to use that but did use the separate garland die to cut mine.  I layered the gold glitter paper behind for extra sparkle.  It's hard to capture in a photo.

The soft bokeh background is a nice contrast to the sparkle.  The only two products not from the Suite are the gold thread and the scalloped border made using the Scalloped Contours die set.

We have some awesome prizes at the challenge this week I hope you will join us!  Click here to learn more.

Color Challenge Week - Day 3

It's hump for my color challenge posts!  Today's card features the colors chosen by Barbara - Very Vanilla, Night of Navy and Blushing Bride with Metallic as dessert.

These are elegant colors so I decided upon an elegant image.  This is the first time I've used this new stamp set - Cottage Rose.  The coloring possibilities are seemingly endless!  But to stick to the challenge I limited myself to the navy and pink.  To color the image I used eye make-up brushes and ink straight from the pad - no water.  I was amazed at how well they blended.  I did need to use scrap paper to brush off excess ink before coloring the flower.  I can't wait to try this technique again with more colors to blend!

This is a beautiful set for any occasion - birthday, get well, wedding, friendship, thinking of you, thank you.  I will use as either a birthday or thank you since this sentiment can go either way.

Color Challenge Week - Day 2

It's day two for me at the Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers!  We are celebrating our 900th challenge and each Design Team member picked their favorite from the past 100 challenges to revisit.  That said, i not only revisited mine (see last night's post) I made it my goal to make a card for each challenge hostess' challenge.  I'll be posting a new card each day through Friday this week!

Today's card also does double duty for CAS Colours & Sketches.  The pretty soft colors of Karen's challenge worked well for my interpretation of the sketch.

I actually used eye shadow brushes to color these die cuts.  They worked very well; I just picked up ink from my stamp pad - no water required!

I hope you'll join us at Splitcoaststampers and CAS Colours & Sketches this week!

Color Challenge Week - Day 1

It's a big week at Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge.  We celebrate our 900th challenge!!! Woo-hoo!!!

To celebrate the design team has each picked a previous challenge they have hosted to repeat - so we have SIX challenges this week!  And there are prizes for participating.  So jump over to Splitcoaststampers to join in the fun.  I'll link to the challenge at the end of this post.

I chose Challenge 836 - Highland Heather, Pineapple Punch and Granny Apple Green with Dots for dessert.  My original card was a floral fun fold.  This one also has floral elements (these colors are just too perfect for flowers) but I used my new Cup of Tea stamps and dies.

This card was very easy to create.  I did use a Post-it to mask off the top of the cup when stamping my greenery.  This way I didn't have to be so careful about lining that up.

The lemon slice and flower are popped up using foam dots and the greeting is from Go to Greetings - possibly the best greeting set I've seen in a long time!  It has all the basics - Happy Birthday, Thank You, Just a Note, Thinking of You in three fonts ranging from elegant to the fun one here.

I'm posting my second card for Chris' Challenge CC828 - Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate and Basic Grey with Something That Moves for dessert - as a sneak peek of an upcoming Sale-A-Bration offering!  The stamps and their matching dies are each free with a $50 purchase (so a $100 purchase gets you BOTH the stamps and dies!)  I'll be making more with adorable set in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned!

I plan to make a card for each of the challenges.  I'll post one each day for the rest of the week.  Be sure to check back to see each challenge!

It's a Pool Party with Lawn Fawn

Happy Thursday! Today is another Team O board at Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  I chose the left column down.

I used a new stamp and die set from Lawn Fawn. I also used the pool stencil from My Favorite Things.  This stencil is really cool.  You just keep turning it 90 degrees to get the water effect!  My color inspiration (patriotic) also comes from the board.

I hope you'll find time to join us at the challenge this week!

Products used:

  • Stamps and dies: Lawn Fawn Pool Party
  • Dies: Lawn Fawn Henry's ABCs
  • Stencil: MFT Water

Color Challenge Candy

My card for the color challenge this week at CAS Colours & Sketches.  Although I really like the design of the card, I'm not sure I love it in these colors.  But oh well, sometimes things don't come out as we envision them.

Don't get me wrong, I like the colors Samantha gave us, it's just that I think I should have chosen a different subject.

I'm pretty sure I would like this better in more traditional candy colors - pinks and reds.  Although all these can be used for candy I think the lollipop in red and white would be better.  Also, this set is from Queen & Company and can easily be made into a shaker.  Wouldn't that be cute?

Products used:

  • Stamps / dies: Queen & Company Candyland
  • Dies: Queen & Company Foundations 3
  • Paper: Queen & Company Petite Patterns, Doodlebug Gingham and Linen

Full of Love Color Challenge

Happy Monday evening!  My card is for LeAnn's color challenge at Splitcoaststampers. She decided on three of the brand new In-Colors - Starry Sky, Orchid Oasis and Sweet Sorbet. For dessert is any DSP.  I hope that means you can have one with other colors because I sure did!

I colored my image on Basic White cardstock using the markers on an acrylic block and a blender pen.  I love this technique for light and small area water coloring.  When using the blender pens you need to use either the Basic White Thick or Shimmery cardstock as they will hold up under the water in the pen.  The Shimmery cardstock is a bit off white so if I am going to layer the card as I did here, I'll use the Basic White Thick so it matches the rest of the card.

The challenge rules allow for neutrals and since Mossy Meadow is one of them I used that for my green.  Had it not been a color challenge I would have thrown in a few more colors with my flowers (most notably yellow).  I'm sure I will be using this set more as I've already used it twice and only had it a few weeks.  See my first card here.

The other thing I love about this set is that it coordinates so well with Flowers of Friendship.  This set is from last year's catalog but has been carried over to this year.  And bonus - there is also a coordinating punch!  I used the largest flower here to give a bit of dimension to the card.

We have fun colors this week - I hope you will join us!
