A Friend Like You

Since today is the last day of the month, it marks my last day as hostess on the CAS Colours & Sketches blog (at least for a little while).  And because it is the fifth Tuesday of the month we have a "timeless Tuesday" where we revisit a previous sketch and use retired colors.
Here are the sketch and colors posted:
This sketch is one of the very early ones on the blog and I updated it a bit by adding some striped washi tape n the side.  I chose the colors because orange is one of my favorites and I thought a nice floral would be great for this time of year.

I  decided to make a thank you card as I have a few thank you's to send.  It's a long story, but I have friends in Los Angeles who stepped up to help my daughter (also in LA) when the California stay-at-home order was placed and her university tried to evict her from her off-campus apartment.  It is wonderful to have friends like that!  (Thankfully, the university reconsidered their position and let the graduate students stay in their two student per two bedroom apartments.)

The mechanics of this card:  I cut all pieces from white and colored with the ink and sponge daubers.  Super simple!

Dies: Stampin' Up! Poppy Moments
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Peaceful Moments
Bundle of both of the above: Stampin' Up!  Peaceful Moments Bundle
Inks: SU retired Peek-a-Boo Peach, Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Washi tape

Double Duty Card

It's the fourth Tuesday of March and my last solo sketch challenge for the month at CAS Colours & Sketches.  Next week we'll have a double challenge since it is the fifth Tuesday!
Here is the sketch:
For this sketch challenge you may rotate the sketch.  I did create it with the vertical orientation in mind however, when I was finished I realized that it looked just as nice rotated 90 degrees.
I intend to give this to a friend for her birthday and I'm not sure which way I will use it.

To create, I die cut all the pieces from white and colored them using sponge daubers and ink.  The colors were chosen from the color challenge this week at Splitcoaststampers.

To get the loopy outline I used various of the sayings and masked them off.
When I had finished assembling the card, I added some sequins and pearls to add a bit of sparkle and interest.

Dies: Cottage Cutz Stitched Flowers
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Scripty Sayings
Inks: Stampin' Up! Blushing Bride, Grapefruit Grove, Melon Mambo, Mossy Meadow
Accessories: PPP Clear Sequins, SU Love What You Do Pearls

Blue Skies

Hi everyone!  I'm making an extra post this week which is a bit unusual for me.  But I wanted to enter this card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week and it ends Monday.
The sketch that is posted at Freshly Made Sketches:
This sketch is really very versatile and I'll probably use it in the future.  I keep a folder of sketches that I like and refer to it often.  Most of the time, they are a jumping off point for a card, however sometimes I use them verbatim.

I also made this card for my design team work at Cottage Cutz this week and will post details on making the card on that blog on Friday.  Cottage Cutz has several adorable duckling dies in their new spring release and this is just one of them.

Die:  Cottage Cutz Duckling with Kite
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Blue Skies
Paper: MFT Watercolor Paper
Inks: Stampin' Up! Seaside Spray, Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake

Fluttering Hearts

Happy Tuesday!  It's my second color challenge this month at CAS Colours & Sketches and I chose some spring colors.  I just wish it would be a little more spring-like and we had more sunshine and less rain!  (Come August I'll be wishing for rain - LOL!)
I've been traveling and this is an image I colored while on the road.  I thought it appropriate since Rosie and Bernie are usually traveling.  However, I did not write down the exact markers and pencils I used so I cannot list them here.  The colors of the challenge are:
I hope you'll find time to join us in the challenge this week!

Stamps: Stamping Bella Up Up and Away Rosie and Bernie
Dies: Queen & Co.

Rain or Shine

Today I am the hostess for two different challenges - the sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and the color challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  Being the practical (or lazy) person I am, I combined the two challenges.
The challenge colors are Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Seaside Spray.  Below is the sketch:
This stamp set is one of my favorites from Stampin' Up!'s new mini catalog.  I'm not a big fan of umbrella sets but I really like this one.  I think it may be the flowers.  They're quite cute, easy to color and versatile.

I used a mask for the circle and a Mini Cloud stencil along with Seaside Spray ink and sponge daubers to create the sky.  The flowers were colored with combo of Stampin' Blends and Copic markers.

This stamp has a matching punch for the umbrella but not for the flowers.  I colored a BUNCH of the flowers and then used my Scan 'n Cut to cut them out. (I'm not much for fussy cutting).  I now have  a lot left over so look for them in an upcoming card!

I hope you will join us this week at one or both of the challenges!

Stamps: Stampin' Up! Under My Umbrella; Stamping Bella Garden Girl Flower Sentiments
Ink: Stampin' Blends and Copic markers Daffodil Delight Light and Dark,Y11; Calypso Coral Light and Dark, YR00; Mossy Meadow Light and Dark; Seaside Spray dye ink
Accessories: MFT Mini Cloud Stencil; washi tape

Lucky for a Friend Like you

Happy March!  Today I start my month as hostess on the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge blog!  For the first challenge of the month I chose some colors that I thought could be used for St Patrick's Day.  Although my card isn't specific to St. Patrick's Day I did want to give it that feel.
The colors for this week's challenge are:
https://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2020/03/challenge-360-colors.html
Pink and green is one of my favorite colors combinations ever since childhood.  I wasn't sure about the combo of the Shaded Spruce and Soft Sea Foam, but I really love how they look together!

For this card I colored a Stamping Bella stamp with alcohol markers (Stampin' Blends and Copic markers) combined with Prismacolor pencils on top.

I usually color a stamped image very quickly to get an idea of what color I want where in the image.  This time I just needed one try but sometimes I may do this three or four times.  Although it takes a bit of paper, it has saved me numerous times from putting in a lot of coloring effort only to decide I made the wrong color choice.
This is my colored image (newly stamped, not the one above) with just markers.
After coloring with the markers I added the pencils:
The pencils can really add quite a bit of depth to the image.
I know that there are those who can add just as much detail with the markers alone, but I really enjoy using the pencils and find I have more control.  Slowly building up the color with the pencils is something I find incredibly relaxing! To note though, once you start laying down the pencil, you cannot add more marker, so be sure you are happy with the marker.

Stamps: Stamping Bella Flowery Gnome, My Favorite Things Whimsical Greetings
Markers: Stampin' Blends Shaded Spruce Light & Dark, G00; Stampin' Blends (for the Blushing Bride) Pink Pirouette Light & Dark, RV0000; Stampin' Blends Soft Sea Foam Light & Dark, YG63; E50, E00, E11, T0, T1, T2
Prismacolor Pencils: Shaded Spruce 907, 909, 920, 901; Blushing Bride 928, 1089, white; Soft Sea Foam 928, 1089, white; skin 928, 939; other used Warm Greys 10%, 20%; Cool Greys 50%, 70%, 90%; Black
