The stamp set I'm using today - Perched in a Tree - is actually a Christmas set that I have never used for Christmas! (And I'm not going to start now - LOL.) I love this little bird because she looks pretty nondescript and you can make her into pretty much any bird you'd like. I made her into my marvelous pink and brown bird here.
I haven't water colored in awhile and thought it would be good for this size image. I used an aqua painter and the re-inkers in Pecan pie and Melon Mambo. I decided to emboss my strip down the side rather than the card background. The white strip is 3/4 inches wide and the Pecan Pie in the background is 1 inch giving a nice edge to it. I used a Perennial Postage die for my square behind the bird.
My water coloring needs a little practice, and I have to learn to loosen up a bit. I use Mixed Media paper when water coloring as it is smoother than tradition hot or cold press and I like the smoother texture for small images.
The sentiments is from Perennial Postage and I chose this one as I can make the card a birthday or thank you.
