Wood You Be My Valentine & De-Stash Give Away

Happy Thursday! The Tic Tac Toe Challenge is back from the holidays - YAY! I love this challenge because it has so many options. Rarely have I ever thought "what can I make that fits this board?" And usually I use more than just my 3-in-a-row elements because there are so many good inspiration points.

For my card I picked the left column -  Heart, Red, Die Cut but it also fits the middle row - Red, Patterned Paper and Valentine!

I used the adorable set from Stampin' Up! called Fluffiest Friends. This set is an online exclusive; it is not available in any catalog. I'm a cute critter lover and this stamp set has several including a hamster, cat and bear. I can't wait to play with it some more!

I colored the beaver with Stampin' Blends in Pecan Pie for the body and the Deep combo (SU100 and SU200) for the tail and paws.Quick coloring is great for critters becuase you don't have to blend perfectly and it makes them look a bit shaggy.

The Tree Rings 3D embossing folder is a perfect backdrop for the beaver. I cut a rectangle from Crumb Cake using the largest Deckled Rectangle die then embossed it. Using a light touch and blending brush, I hit the edges and raised portions with some Pecan Pie ink. The Tree Rings embossing folder is a hybrid meaning it comes with dies so that you can cut out the individual rings.

The sentiment is what really makes this card. I used the Mini Alphabet dies to create a custom message on the front. The inside is from the sentiment set Throughout the Year.

Cheerful Daisies

I should really call this Cheerful Sunflowers because that is what I told Barbara at Splitcoaststampers they are! She is the Color Challenge hostess and chose Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Granny Apple Green with sunflowers as the optional "dessert."  Although the theme of sunflowers seems autumn-like to me with the Granny Apple Green it was easy to make this springlike.

I used the Cheerful Daisies stamp and die set. The flowers in this set have outline and solid stamps allowing you to choose if you'd like to color the flowers, or if you're not into coloring (or in a hurry as I usually am) you can use the solid stamp to color them in. The die set contains outline dies to cut the stamped images and solid dies that cut flowers and leaves and even the sentiment label!

I love floral spray cards; they are very simple to make. I just cut out my images and then start arranging - like you would do with real flowers. When I find the arrangement I like I start gluing. Tip - I use a fine tip glue and adhere the top image where I want it first, leaving the other images in place while I do. I glue down just the center of the top image (or I use a Stampin' Dimensional) so I can slip the other die cuts in place and adjust if necessary. Again I use just a bit of glue for all pieces. When everything is in place I can add more glue underneath with my fine tip glue.

This card went together very quickly. Adding the thread may have taken me the most time!

The new Spring Mini Catalog has just released from Stampin' Up! and there are a ton of great new products which I will be featuring in the coming weeks.

The Beauty of You - Sale-A-Bration and De-stash Give Away

I've used some non-traditional colors for this floral card today. I am part of the Design Team for the color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers and the colors recently were Highland Heather, Smoky Slate and Balmy Blue. I've seen florals done where the leaves are not green so I thought I'd give it a shot and I like the look!

This stamp set has a matching stencil that makes it very easy to color! To get the shading just use a light touch on the first layer and then a bit heavier on the subsequent layers. Not only will this put down more ink it adds to the color already there. There are five numbered layers and you just line up the notches - super easy layering.

I used the Deckled Rectangles to cut an under layer and embossed it with the Timeworn Type embossing folder. I love the versatility of that folder - it elevates whatever you are creating!

This card needed some sparkle so I added gems.

I am entering this in two challenes:

The Just Us Girls "Sparkle Challenge."

I have also entered this in the Stencil Fun challenge.

CAS Painted Lavender and De-Stash Give Away

Happy 2024!  Today is the first CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge of the year and I am the host this month. I have some pretty colors for you that I chose from the colors in this new suite by Stampin' Up! This card was easy to pull together. To create the shades of lavender, I simply stamped off the underlayer first, then used the Highland Heather full strength for the next layer.

The Perennial Lavender Suite comes with two stamp and die bundles, gorgeous paper, paper butterfly accents and shimmer gems. I used both stamp and die sets here. The Painted Lavender bundle consists of beautiful floral images and dies while the Perennial Postage bundle has sentiment only stamps and a variety of squares and rectangles with a postage stamp edge - a very versatile set! The adorable Brushed Brass butterfly I used on this card is available separately.

Valentine's Day Z-Fold Card

Happy Tuesday! I haven't posted in awhile as the holidays have just been a lot for me this year. Between travel and the puppies and life - it seems things are sometimes overwhelming. But I have a card this week.

I'm the hostess at Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge. My colors are Sweet Sorbet, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist and Petal Pink. I'll admit that I took them from some new designer paper from Stampin' Up! that I really like. I use DSP sparingly so it seems when I like one I REALLY like it. This one has some great smaller patterns.

The patterns are perfect for fun fold cards so that is what I made. It's a Z-fold - a kind of fun-fold card that is easy to make. The base is an A2 card where the front is scored at 2 1/8" and fold back. The Z panel can be any size with two score lines; you just need to make sure the center panel between the two score lines is 2 1/8" so it's the same depth as the card base. My Z panel is 3 1/2" x 6 3/4". Starting from the left, I scored it at 2 1/2" and then 2 1/8" from that score line.

The Z panels can be placed anywhere and any size depending on your card base. Once you have the concept down there is a lot you can do with this style of card. Here is a fun one I made a few year's back.

I hope you all have a festive holiday!
